San Carlos is home!

18 February 2010
Finally completed all the necessary paperwork and had Solace moved to "B" dock, San Carlos Marina on February 9th, to complete many of the small things necessary to get the boat back in cruising shape. Propane system, electrical upgrades, head replacement, water pumps, and new galley plumbing work are all on the list. The Yanmar motor tested strong and will only require injector cleaning to help smooth out the idle. The previous owners did all the right things with prior upgrades, so makes it much easier on me now when you take into consideration it's a 31 year-old sailing vessel.

The trip down to San Carlos February 16th was an easy drive. Sonora, CA to Phoenix, 11 hours, with only minor stop and go traffic through Los Angeles. The border crossing was a pleasant experience compared to some of the previous crossings. Phoenix to San Carlos was a fun drive the second day in 7 hours.

So looks like San Carlos, Sonora, Mexico is going to be home until at least early summer. Great area and with major city Guaymas only about 15 minutes away it's an ideal spot to enjoy the nice warm weather and get the work completed. There are many skilled local craftsmen that can complete the majority of work required and Marina Seca is nearby should it require taking Solace out of the water. I'm ready to start the process.
