On our way to Greece
02 May 2011 | all at sea
We have finally found the weather window we needed to get to Greece. Last night we went into Marzamemi town for a last Italian pizza and Italian beer and walked back to the boat which is in a marina about 1 mile from the small town centre, where by the way they were having a serious shindig in celebration of something or other with live bands.
We cast off from the marina mooring at 10.30 this morning local time and are heading 067 degrees towards Lefkas island which is 280 miles away at the moment. We heard the news on the BBC world service this morning that OBL has been found and killed by US special forces. It will probably become one of those 'where were you when you heard the news about...' events.
The weather here is warm and mostly sunny although we expect rain this evening for three hours or so. The sea is almost flat calm and the wind 5 knots from the south. It's due to pick up later but still from the same direction so that will enable us to turn the engine off and go sailing.
No much more to report at the moment so we'll sign off.
