Cedeira to La Coruna
08 June 2014
Dawn is around 06:30 and we set off soon afterwards hoping to cover the 30nm by midday. It started as an overcast day with light winds on the nose again. The pressure was just enough to sail by and negate the need to turn the engine on (below 4kts = engine on). Rain showers passed through, washing the decks and sails of salt picked up while crossing of the bay, Songbird would be squeaky clean on decks when we arrived in La Coruna, which would save a bit of work. The sea was sloppy with a bit on wave chop on top of the 2.5m swell, but we covered the 30nm to arrive at Marina Coruna just after midday, tied up and downed a beer that had been well and truly earnt......Things didn't go quite as planned, but we had arrived safely in La Coruna with 24 hours to spare, no busted bodies or yacht, had seen a number of lovely Spanish ports and the smaller 'Rias' on the north coast, which were all a bonus.....we had a farewell meal in town that night as both Kim and Mike were jumping ship and heading home.....Thanks heaps guys, the crossing would have been extremely difficult without your help, it wasn't an easy crossing but we made it......all good.
