Lagos to Olhao

Just outside of Lagos are some interesting rock formations that have been carved by wind and waves. We left the marina and anchored just outside the harbour entrance, launched the dinghy and set off to explore these formations (see photos). Around lunchtime we set off and had a great sail along the coast in a light breeze and flat seas (champagne sailing) arriving at Cabo Santa Maria into the entrance of Rio Formosa late in the evening into a fast flowing tidal stream in the estuary...... We motored up the channel to Olhao, squeezing into the anchorage just off the channel next to town after being blasted by the local ferry on our first anchoring attempt...he thought we were too close to the channel. We were sitting with 2.5m of water under the keel near top of tide and would probably touch bottom overnight if we swung towards shore, it was a soft mud bottom so wouldn't be a problem if we did.
