Purple Moon

We are heading dead downwind. The trades are out of the E at 10-15kn and swells have calmed some, though you can't really tell at this point of sail. We are currently due to arrive in Fatu Hiva Thursday late morning or afternoon. S/V Miss Jody from Pensacola arrived yesterday and s/v Robins Nest from SA arrived this morning. They've said the island is amazing. The closer we get the more I check the "miles to go" on the chart plotter. Every mile takes a year to click off. Has to be part of the whole watching the pot theory. Tomorrow is going to last an eternity!
I'm afraid I've got the 'almost there' blues. We've both been quiet today, keeping to ourselves more than usual. It is difficult to grasp that the cossing is almost over. I am getting a wee bit anxious to speak with/see someone other than the captain, but I am going to greatly miss the peacefulness of the open ocean.
We have not caught a fish to speak of. You know why? They are all lure eating monsters! We have donated 5 lures to the cause. Talked with another boat from Florida, Cyan, who is 60nm behind us and they have had the exact same luck. Maybe tomorrow when we get closer to land and slow down a bit we will be able to hook some tasty average sized non-monster fish for lunch.
The moon this evening was purple during the sunset. Dad was taken aback. He has never seen a purple moon and was a little miffed that he couldn't get the camera to capture the moment. He did, however, catch the sunset.
Hope all is well on the home front.
Cheers to that last little bit, Cass
