En Route from Ua Pou to Nuku Hiva

15 May 2007
Cass
We stayed in Ua Pou for a couple of days. It is a remote island with a fantastic rowing team that we saw practicing every evening as the sun went down. They were preparing for the island games to be held in late July over in Samoa. They used Sora as a turning point in their laps about the bay.

Last night we had an electrical SNAFU regarding the generator and decided it was time to move to an anchorage that was slightly more connected. We are headed to Taiohae, the capital of the Marquesas, where there are Yacht services, wireless internet, and waterfalls and hikes to boot! We are planning on staying on this island for a couple of weeks before sailing over to the Tuamotus at the end of the month.

We just caught a Dorado and without refrigeration I am planning on making poisson cru, a marquesan specialty that basically involves making a ceviche with lime and cocnut milk. Simple and delicious.

Cheers those who row, Cass

Look at the Capt. making a happy face!
