Night 6: Great Bridge night – Roaming a random town wit my gat!

27 October 2011 | Great Bridge on the ICW
We pulled into great bridge after having some issues with our fuel system. Oddly enough, before we left I installed an overkill Racor fuel prefilter and water separation system. Well, is had paid for itself already. Turns out the Diesel we picked up in Long Island had water and a bunch of other crap in it! While cruising from Norfolk into the ICW I noticed the water in the clear filter housing (that's why its clear). We shut down the port engine and kept the starboard side running to keep up with the parade of traffic behind and in front of us. When I put everything back together the engine ran for about 2 minutes and then died... Fortunately a diesel mechanic told me last wee how to prime my fuel system and it work like a charm. In 10 minutes we were back up and running with both engines, crisis averted. After finding a dock in the Great Bridge ICW area with some space we decided to roam the town and see what we could find to eat. Actually we were lucky to be there because the draw bridge we went under broke right after we went through it. We had a cocktail on the boat with some neighbors and headed out. We had our sites set on BBQ and I think we may have actually found something close when we arrived at Big Woodies. We had roamed the streets for about 45 minutes and weren't having much luck. I had my 45 holstered and concealed, since you never really know what you might run into in a completely unknown place. Rach wants one now, but she wants her gun to be much smaller. HAHA 1 day down south and we are already turning to red necks! Just kidding. We decided to go into a Radio Shack and chat with some locals. They both agreed that Big Woodies would be good and may have live music. We even picked up a 12 volt extension cord for our boat search light bonus. Big Woodies was great, nice people, live band putting out music way better than what we get in the Northeast and great wings! We headed back to the boat and enjoyed a good nights sleep in the ICW protected waters.
