Voyages of Southern Cross DQQ

Narrative and photo account of our sailing experiences on Southern Cross

Crossing back to Viti Levu

The crossing back to Viti Levu (the main island of Fiji) was a bit stressful as the Navionics charts indicated that some of the passages had not been fully surveyed. We were also using satellite images from Ovitalmaps (which we had found we much easier to use than Google Earth images imported into Open-CPN), but the satellite images from both Ovitalmaps and Google Earth were blanked out for our planned passage.... But, proceeding cautiously, we made it through the Qio passage and back across to Viti Levu in one long day of motor sailing.

That night we had dinner at the Golden Point Resort. Interestingly, it was owned by a Lebanese family, and the restaurant served Lebanese as well as Fijian food. It was quite nice, and quite relaxing after the long day sailing.
