Hell revisited. After using SeaTow this morning to get underway is was a uneventful trip with winds enough to fly a jib to overcome any adverse current and the anticipation of seeing Larry and Polly Coates in St Augustine. Then at 5 p.m. crossing the inlet, I missed a marker in the inlet and used SeaTow to get me off with the coming darkness. The due to the Christmas Boat Parade, the Bridge of Lions could not open due to pedestrian traffic for over an hour and I held stations 17 knots of wind and a fast moving current. I did contemplate anchoring on the north side of the bridge for the night, but the anchorage was crowded with boats without anchor lights, and the Parade was using part of it for the progress. When I finally made it through the bridge and into the southern anchorage the wind protection of better and I had just woven my way through a multitude of boats in the dark and was about to anchor when I swerved to avoid a small dark hulled boat without anchor lights and you guessed, I'm in water too skinny to float. What's one more night of sleeping on the lean. But tomorrow I'm breaking out the fortress for a less labor intensive kedge and heading for Sebastian Creek.
