Oeiras

On Thursday we left Parque de Nacoes at around midday at the height of the tide and squeezed out through the lock, easier with little tide running!
We really enjoyed Lisbon and the people and sights. If you are looking for a city to spend a long weekend in then we suggest a visit here. We will come back sometime.
We motor-sailed down the River Tejo, past the sights of Lisboa with Alan clicking away with the cameras. Oeiras is a small town and marina at the mouth of the Tejo, this short trip was to give us a good start for the longer run down to Sines as the river journey takes a couple of hours.
Oeiras was a nice small marina with good facilities and friendly staff, E38.70 a night including a discount for Cruising Association membership was reasonable. We probably would have stayed longer but the weather for the trip south was good for the next day. The marina will even take you to the local station for free. We took advantage of this and then wandered around trying to find the post office to send a birthday card and managed that after a false start that ended up in a paintball facility. We even found a Roller Hockey Tournament going on in one of the sports halls. We had a beer and dinner on the small prom that overlooks the marina, very good sardines, potatoes and salad.
