Chris’s birthday was on the Monday. He was delighted with his ‘telescopic back scratcher’ from Carolyn which topped off the new watch and a couple of nice bottles of Rum and Whisky that had been acquired earlier (the booze in duty free Gibraltar). We had a laid back day doing some shopping and cooking for the evening. We planned a tapas style meal and were joined by Neil and Susie from Joshua’s Wake together with Fred and Maria – the menu:
Roasted Almonds in lemon, salt and paprika
Home-made Red Pepper Humus with ‘toasts’
Homemade tomato sauce (roughly chopped and cooked with garlic and herbs) served on toasted bread with olive oil and salt. This a staple Spanish snack in cafes and is so good that we started creating our own version
Small Chilli servings on toasts
Roast chicken pieces
‘Boat Pizza’ - Ham and Mushroom and a Sardines and Anchovy pizza on our easy boat base
Salad with Carolyn’s French Dressing
French Cheeses provided by Susie
The party went very well and it was somewhat late when we all retired that ‘morning’!
