Aunt and Paella

We had a visitor on Friday, Chris’s Aunt, Daphne, lives near Valencia so she undertook the 45 minute drive to come and visit us. It’s about 15 years since we have seen each other. She arrived bearing wine and chocolates and huge beautiful smelling lemons from her garden. We had a very pleasant few hours sitting in the cockpit over lunch and chatting.
After Daphne left we waited hopefully as there was an outside chance that the new dinghy would turn up but at 19.30 hrs a phone call from the chandlery put paid to that. Now we had to wait over the weekend as nothing would happen until Monday …we’re in Spain!
On Saturday we had a relaxing morning and then got the bikes out and did a ‘beer run’. We have found it difficult to get Chris’s two favourite beers this year (Estrella Galicia and Cruzcampo) and when we were shopping the other day we found a different supermarket, Consum, that stocked them. Both bikes and the panniers were pressed into action and we paid a special visit. Strangely there wasn’t much other than beer on the cashier’s belt but we now have good stocks of each beverage! On Saturday evening we visited one of the restaurants in the town facing the marina as it got a good write up on Trip Advisor for Paella. The salad and wine were good but the seafood paella was OK rather than good.
