Moraira

We spent Tuesday night at anchor in the bay, unfortunately the wind had chosen not to listen to the forecast and sent strong gusts up to 32 knots through the bay all night. Chris didn’t get much sleep – anchor watching! The next afternoon as the wind showed little sign of abating we went into Moraira marina nearby to ensure some rest for the trip across to Ibiza. Moraira is a nice town, the marina is a private club and no doubt is expensive in season but the lady charged us as if we were a mono-hull so E43 per night. We stayed two nights as the weather was not suitable to sail east, strong winds and large waves from the direction you want to go is no fun on a sailboat! We had a good ‘Menu del Dia’ lunch in the ‘Del Mar’ on the front and managed to solve a number of shopping issues we had been searching for: a new rubbish bin with no propeller holes, blue paint and an additional SIM card for data as you can’t top up your SIM until the end of the month- not much good if you use all the allowance and need to get the weather forecast. The town, the marina and the anchorage are worth a visit – recommended.
