Cala Llombarts/Porto Petro

Following swimming the next morning and with the wind light again we left Cabrera under motor and headed up the east coast of Mallorca to Cala Llombarts. This is a small Cala and there was already another yacht there so we squeezed in the front with 30 metres of chain out in 6 meters of water, fine for a quick stop for lunch and another swim/snorkel for Mitch and Ben. The water had a fair amount of rubbish floating in on the waves including a large tangle of lines and twine that we fished out and bagged up to avoid it getting in anyone’s prop. Nice enough for lunch but not an overnight stop.
We motored out of the Cala and set up the sails with our Main and big Gennaker spread in 6 knots of wind. We were managing around 4 knots for a while but the wind died to 2 or 3 knots and we were drifting along at less than 2 knots so Chris finally gave up and put the motors back on for the last mile into Porto Petro. We had visited before and picked up a buoy in the same area opposite the town. Mitch, Ben and Chris went to look around the town (eat ice-cream/drink beer!) whist Carolyn relaxed on board. After more swimming we had a BBQ on board with homemade burgers and large Spanish sausages. They seemed to go down well. The sun stayed out until around 21.00 hrs when a hasty retreat inside the saloon was called as the mosquitoes’ decided it was their dinner time
