Ilsa Budelli – Passo Secca di Morto (Dead-man’s Reef Passage)

16 September 2016 | Ilsa di Bodelli
The anchorage between Isla Budelli to the south-west and Ilsa Santa Maria to the northeast is very attractive with many rocks and lovely views across the waters around it. It’s also very busy, the normal tripper boats blasting past along with all the RIBs, yachts and other motor craft.

We picked up a National Park buoy here which comes in the price we paid for the permit. We have been checked three times overall by the park rangers to see if we have the relevant permit. We have seen some blogs that say don’t bother buying a permit as you are not checked, this is not our experience and they add a 40% fine to the cost if you have to buy on the spot.

We spent the time swimming and taking Fizz for a paddle around the anchorage. Landing on the shore the granite is very red, we can see where the kitchen work-surfaces come from now. By early evening the place was quieter with around 20 boats in the two main anchorage areas, we spent a comfortable night. Well worth a visit, it’s a lovely place.
