Bonifacio 2
16 September 2016 | Bonafacio, Corsica
C&C

Bonafacio is spectacular, a must see port, the old buildings of the Citadel and the hordes of yachts and other craft make it a great place to wander round. We decided against the steep climb in the heat of the day and waited until around 18.00 before making our way up to the old town. Narrow streets and old buildings, mostly well maintained, lots of bars and restaurants with great views out over the port and the rocks and cliffs out to sea.
We had a drink in a bar in a small square and then returned to a restaurant we had noticed earlier. Cantina Doria runs out of three spaces next to each other in an old building and provides typical Corsican food, we saw a very hearty soup that would have qualified as a stew being served whilst we ate Corsican hams and other dried sausages and then a good fish dish and what turned out to be ‘burger-like’ patties of aubergine, breadcrumbs, tomato and cheese. Very filling but not what we had expected from the menu. In a quirky environment with good service we all enjoyed the meal.
