Porto Pozzo again

C&C
We had a great sail cross the Straits, as the prevailing winds there are either west or east, going south or north gives you the wind on the beam and when its 15 knots we go along very well. We dropped the sails at the entrance to the harbour and motored up the mile or so to the marina area to give our batteries a charge. We are starting to think they will have to be replaced as they are not holding the charge as well as they should – a bit of a problem when cruising, you constantly have to get the charge back up by running motors etc and it’s even more of an issue when the generator is broken.

We attached ourselves to the buoy without the attentions of the incompetent helpers this time, though they did appear later to ‘help’ another boat in the same ludicrous manner they applied to us before – they haven’t learnt!

We picked up Ray and Judy from ‘Start Again’ that evening and we went for dinner at the ‘Sintonia’ restaurant next to the marina. We shared a Carpaccio of Beef with mushrooms and cheese as a starter and then both had a grilled local fish fillet with dauphinoise potatoes. It was beautifully presented and very tasty. Ray and Judy were equally pleased with their meals. Whilst not cheap the quality of the food was excellent and the wines were reasonable prices. We would go there again. The other benefit is that the buoy is free for the night if you eat at the restaurant.

Chris did an early bread run in the morning but the options were very limited and the quality of the bread was awful, only eaten when there was no other option! Start Again headed off mid morning and we stayed another day doing bits around the boat and reading. No-one came to collect the normal E20 for the buoy so another free night.
