Petriti

06 June 2018 | Petriti
C&C
With strong NW winds coming we came back across the channel to Petriti on the island of Corfu. This is a small fishing port with a good anchorage outside the harbour. As we arrived there were around 9 boats hanging on their hooks including 'Timeless Odyssey' who we met in Kalami.

By 18.00 there were 19 boats anchored, many of them first night charters. The anchor fun had gone on for a few hours and in the end Chris took pity on a couple of boats and helped out with anchoring instructions and stopping a dinghy with a stalled motor drifting off into the blue yonder. We've all been there trying to learn a new skill.

Drinks were at 18.00 hrs on board Timeless Odyssey and by now both the wind and the swell had increased significantly and we were all rolling well. It took a couple of hours for us to be happy that the conditions were suitable to leave the boats, a few beers and wine helped the time to pass! The four of us took Fid around the bay to the pontoon of Panorama Taverna, Notos which has a very nice terrace overlooking the bay surrounded by bougainvillea and other flowers and trees with hammocks for relaxing in the shade. The food and service were very good at a reasonable price so a very pleasant evening was passed. The swell was still somewhat in evidence overnight but it was probably countered by the wine so we slept OK.

Dinner with Martyn & Veronica of Timeless Odessy

Today we have wandered around the town, bought some fruit and bread, and had a coffee in one of the tavernas. We are expecting the winds to return later but hope the swell gives us a miss today. We shall find out later! Our next move is back up to Corfu town to meet the arriving crew on Wednesday morning so we shall relax until then and maybe get a few jobs done.
