We motor-sailed down the channel between Meganissi and Levkas, the wind from behind helping the genoa provide a small boost to the engines. We wanted to get into Sivota early as, again, everyone warned us it was very busy.
On our arrival we were able to secure the last place on the pontoon of the ‘Yacht Bar’ which had been recommended by one of Chris’s ‘football watching skipper’ contacts. Unlike many taverna pontoons where you don’t pay but must eat at the establishment, here the charge is E35 per night for us but, as it came with power and we wanted a rest as Chris’s back was causing pain, this worked for us as we don’t like eating in the same place all the time.

We booked three nights and thoroughly enjoyed the time in Sivota. It’s an attractive place, the weather got somewhat better and the bar at the end of the pontoon was friendly and from the skippers point of view, it showed lots of football. He watched a few games, including England v Belgium, mostly in company with a Swedish family from the boat opposite us which provided the opportunity for some repartee, as the possibility for the two countries to meet in the quarter-final of the World Cup was clear. Chris did multiple stretching exercises which after the three days succeeded in improving his back movement.
The 'Yacht Bar' wasnt far away!
When we awoke on the second morning there was another Broadblue Cat moored to the taverna opposite, so we went around and introduced ourselves to Chris, the skipper of newly purchased ‘Alexandria II’ and his son Max. Alexandria II is a BB385 like ‘Imagine’ and a couple of others we had met along the way. They came on board that evening for drinks, Max watched the England game with us and and we visited the next evening and ate dinner together in the taverna where they were moored. Like any newly acquired boat Chris has plenty to fix and sort out but she will be a fine cruising boat like the rest of the BB sisters!
We will go back to Sivota and the Yacht Bar later in the year and recommend it as a great stop in the area.
