Andreou is a lovely bay right on the southern tip of Ithaka. We arrived early as is our normal practise to find two boats swinging to anchor and taking up much of the head of the bay. After a bit of consideration we were able to drop back on our anchor between them and secure our stern to the rocks.
They both left in due course and 4/5 other boats joined us during the day. It was a very pleasant spot and we swam and snorkelled in the clear water and enjoyed the scenery of the bay (we didn’t see any goats though despite its alternative name).
We were just about to start eating our evening BBQ when 5 mono-hulls and 3 cats entered the bay and for the next hour disturbed everyone by trying to raft together in their ‘species’. This had just settled down when around 21.00 another boat came in and proceeded to lay his anchor and chain over ours arguing that it was OK. Chris went for a swim the next morning and he was clearly over our chain. The skipper of the other boat then went for a swim and afterwards quickly left the bay! At least Chris didn’t have to argue with him to enable us to leave.
It’s a lovely stop and we will return there later in the year as well.
