We spent another somewhat sleepless night in Vathi, the boat had been fine all day in strong winds from the north but at 22.30hrs just as we were getting ready to go to bed we dragged for the second night in succession. Another ‘up anchor and reset’, this time in the full dark! We had 50m of chain out and had been hanging in 6/7m of water. We think the change in the wind around to the west again swung us out into deeper water, circa 18m as the shallow area is small, and a 20 knot+ gust pulled us out. Vathi – Ithaca is slipping down the Skipper’s ‘like list’ very quickly, if we return it will be for a day stop for shopping.
Dinner on board in Sivota
We motored north to Sivota as the World Cup was back on the agenda for the Semi-finals. We had booked the same pontoon next to the ‘Yacht Bar’ and had an enjoyable couple of days apart from the result of the England game. Carolyn was happy with the French result! By co-incidence as we arrived we emailed Chris of ‘Alexandria II’ to see where he was and the response was ‘see you later’ as he had booked a space on the same pontoon, he and his crew joined the viewing for England’s game along with a number of holidaying Brits.
