The 3rd September marked 30 years since we got married.
The previous day we had part sailed, part motor-sailed in variable winds from Palairos to Vlikho Bay just south of Nidri. This is a big anchorage we have visited a number of times before. We had a slow day opening the cards we had brought from England with a late breakfast and relaxing in the cockpit on what was a very hot afternoon.

The best restaurant we have found in this part of Greece bares the unusual name of ‘Seaside’. It has terraces overlooking the bay and the boats anchored there, the staff are very attentive and skilled and the food is excellent (you do pay about twice the normal price for a meal in Greece but that’s still very reasonable compared to the UK)
We had a table on the lower private terrace by the water, there was a small buzzer to attract attention if we wanted the staff to attend to us! They brought olive tapenade on toast with our glass of ‘Fizz’. We had ‘stuffed mushrooms with sundried tomatoes and cheese’ and ‘beetroot with yoghurt and walnuts’ as starters and then Chris had ‘red snapper’ and Carolyn had ‘tuna steak with fennel reduction’ both served with crisp steamed veg. We had a bottle of what the menu amusingly called a ‘nervous’ white wine, even talking to the waiter we couldn’t get clear why that word had been used, we think it’s close to a Greek word and a case of mistranslation. The wine was very good anyway. We even had a desert which is very unusual for us and it was delicious, mille-feuille with fresh fruits and a yoghurt cream. They gave us a small bottle of slightly sweet rose to accompany it and it worked very well. We enjoyed our previous visit here but this was even better, excellent food very nicely presented and served, they even gave us an anniversary card!
We had a lovely day
