I know it's a song but appropriate in this instance. 24 hours after Ange's last post we had glassy seas....The following morning
I got talking to one of the locals and he pointed us to a Marina berth that we could safely leave Split Enz at. We really wanted to get to Santorini but It's not really an option to anchor at Santorini as its so deep.
With accommodation booked we were due to catch the fast cat Ferry over on Saturday.
Days prior to departing for Santorini, we spent our time exploring Rythemno and the surrounding area.... There's so much history to take in you could spend a lot longer but we have to keep moving.
On Saturday morning we were up at 5am to catch the bus to Hereklion and then the fast cat ferry at 9.30am to Santorini...the only problem was the ferry was full and only travels to Santorini once a day. We had accommodation booked but failed to book the ferry on line as we thought this was the off season...yea right!
Fortunately we were put on standby and after a stressful wait our name was called out...phew!
So we arrived and are currently enjoying these incredible sights. Back to Split Enz Monday and then it's make our way East along Crete and then North.
Thanks for reading, Steve
The photo is taken with our luggage being trekked up the path by the trusty donkey to our accommodation in Santorini.
