The End of the Party

San Jose del Cabo
It's hot, hot, hot!! Time to go "around the corner".
After spending a bumpy night in Frailes Bay on the way here, and seeing the green water and millions of jellyfish, we are convinced that the end of the party has indeed arrived, and we don't mind packing it up, so to speak.
We motor down to San Jose del Cabo in the early morning, and find a nice slip in this well organized and clean marina. Just like with everything else, there is a deserted sadness hanging over the whole place. The beaches are all closed with rules strictly enforced, and it is "Tarzan hot" with no real way to remedy that, except by adding more shade tarps, which we do, and hosing ourselves off with the dock hose!
We are fortunate to find several restaurants open for just take out, and feeling deprived, we indulge ourselves in fish tacos, burritos, and burgers as we closely monitor the weather, looking for that window to head around the notorious Cabo Falso. Tuesday is looking good.
We are thrilled to see Spirit arrive, and to reconnect with them, picking Tom's brain on his thoughts with the weather. It's always so comforting to have others that agree on these things-especially those that have done this route many times before. After our buddy boat, Obsession, joins us on the dock, we cement the plans, and all work hard at cleaning paddle boards, dinghies, rinsing the boats, stashing unnecessary items that have accumulated on the deck, and completing other small projects.
Fortunately, another cruiser has a car here and offers to drive me into town for a proper provisioning after I do my best to support the small tienda here in town. Chedraui Select is a very posh grocery store-even has a sushi bar inside! Now the refrigerator is stuffed to the top, we have plenty of fresh produce, full diesel tanks, jerry cans, and the extra fuel bladder on the top of the deck. We should be all set!
I've taken advantage of the last opportunity to have someone else do my laundry. That I will sure miss!
One more shower in these posh air conditioned bath facilities tonight when it finally cools enough to stop profusely sweating, and it's off to bed early to catch whatever ZZZzz's we can before the 3:30am wake up call!
