We Bought It!!!!

27 July 2010 | Bremerton... and Pensacola
Heather/scattered dark with occasional light toward morning
Can't BELIEVE it, after all these months, we signed/notarized the closing documents and overnighted them out yesterday, then today signed a couple more and scanned and emailed them, and made the wire transfer to pay for the boat, and, and... tomorrow is CLOSING! Wow, at last. Thank you, John! Thank you, Ted! Thank you, Brent and Alina. Thank you, BJ Dunson, Pensacola surveyor extraordinaire, and Mark Hyma, Pensacola engine wizard beyond compare (UPDATE: check our blog entries for Nov-Dec 2011 entitled Diesel Mechanic Parts 1-3. Mark is great but he forgot one crucial little thing that wound up costing us another $600 or so once we started using the engines for extended periods), and Dave Taylor, Pensacola paint and blister master! You all made it possible, and a lot of what we did was done on faith, and goodwill, and we are SO GRATEFUL! If any of you need a testimonial, you know you can find it with us!

Excuse me while I turn a few more cartwheels... :-)

Vessel Name: Parallax
Vessel Make/Model: 37' Prout Snowgoose (1982)
Hailing Port: Pensacola
Crew: Derek, Heather and Grant
About:
Two astronomers, looking for variable stars and adventure. After cruising the Caribbean aboard S/V Paradox for 18 months in the early 90s, the crew swallowed the anchor and had a child, always planning their next Great Adventure: cruising under sail with Grant, showing him the world. [...]
Extra:
We knew that if we ever got a catamaran, we'd want a name to celebrate her twin-hulledness. Parallax is seeing the same thing from two slightly different points of view, which with our two eyes is what gives humans our depth perception. It's also a good metaphor for one of the benefits of marriage. [...]
