How about a nice game of... Quidditch?

This place we've moved is proving more unusual than it initially appeared... Florida Gulf Coast University, it turns out, has just hosted a Quidditch tournament. This picture is from FGCU's student newspaper, The Eagle:
Quidditch, it's not just for wizards anymore

And this one is from the "Quidditch World Cup," Florida style:
Looks like a fan of Madame Hooch

Not just for wizards anymore, eh? Bearing a striking resemblance to the real-fictional sport in motion, and just looking rather silly when the players are stationary, the tournament had to be cancelled after three matches for the usual sorts of reasons -- uncanny downpours!

On a different note, the buying of the house continues... at this stage we are waiting for repairs required by the appraiser to be completed.

Vessel Name: Parallax
Vessel Make/Model: 37' Prout Snowgoose (1982)
Hailing Port: Pensacola
Crew: Derek, Heather and Grant
About:
Two astronomers, looking for variable stars and adventure. After cruising the Caribbean aboard S/V Paradox for 18 months in the early 90s, the crew swallowed the anchor and had a child, always planning their next Great Adventure: cruising under sail with Grant, showing him the world. [...]
Extra:
We knew that if we ever got a catamaran, we'd want a name to celebrate her twin-hulledness. Parallax is seeing the same thing from two slightly different points of view, which with our two eyes is what gives humans our depth perception. It's also a good metaphor for one of the benefits of marriage. [...]
