We made to La Paz

We left Cabo San Lucas on Monday November 10 and motored over to Puerto Los Cabos, only 18 NM away. The marina there is nice, but secluded from the rest of town. I was here six months ago when I came down to help my friend Jim Ellis bring his Catalina 42 Hoku LeLe up to San Diego.
The damage from Hurricane Odlie is apparent. They are putting a new roof on one of the buildings. There is water damage where some of the dirt has been washed away from under cement roadways. The docks were in good shape. We stayed at PLC for two nights.
Shortly after leaving Cabo we got a call on the VHF radio. The agent we paid to check us in to Mexico was at the dock. They mistakenly gave us ALL our paperwork back, including the forms they were supposed to turn in to the government on our behalf. Luckly we have a scanner onboard. Once we reached Puerto Los Cabos I scanned the documents and sent them by email back to the agent. At least all our paperwork appears to be in order.
On Wednesday November 12 we left Puerto Los Cabos and went to an anchorage called Los Frielles (the Frairs). There was a south swell that made the boat roll back and forth a lot. I slept on the settee so Melodie could spread out and steady herself.
We only stayed at "the Friars" for one night. We continued on toward La Paz, stopping next at Ensenada De Los Muertos. That means Cove of the Dead. They changed the name to Cove of Souls for marketing purposes, but have since changed it back. We really liked EDLM and chose to stay an extra day. Our friends Phil and Desley on Wind Dancer caught up to us there. They came over in their dinghy and we went ashore for an impromptu cocktail party at the beach bar. Keith and Dana on Optimus Prime also came ashore. When It came time to head back we gave Keith and Dana a tow with Phil's dinghy, as Keith had rowed ashore.
We left EDLM early on Saturday morning. We experienced the venturi effect of the pennisula and an island. The wind gust from less than 10 kts to over 20 for a short time. Once we got past the local wind effect the wind dropped back to 10 knots. We motored the rest way to La Paz.
We called Marina De La Paz, but they were all full. We didn't want to stay at Costa Baja Marina because it's the most expensive in town. We called Marina Palmira and they had a 50 slip open. We are going to stay here for one week to attend to some boat chores. Exciting things like: Laundry, provisioning, change the oil in the engine. You know all that fun stuff they show in the magazines!
Melodie and I continue to adjust to our new lifestyle. Melodie cooked up the Mai Mai I caught during the Ha-Ha. It was really tasty!
