Last Day in Tenicatita
09 March 2015 | Tenicatita Bay
Pat - Partly Cloudy
Today is Monday March 9, 2015. We are in Tenicatita Bay, getting ready to head north tomorrow morning. I read last week’s blog and see that life here is pretty much the same as last week. Bocce, Mexican Train Dominos, walks on the beach. The question for Friday’s Mayor’s Raft Up was, “What are you afraid of?”
We’ve gone over to friends boats for drinks and card games. We’ve hosted them on our boat too. We shared a taxi ride over to La Manzanilla for supplies and lunch. It’s kinda unique how the taxi works here. You leave your boat in your dinghy and land on the beach. Then you walk ¼ mile up to the hotel and ask the bellman at the front desk to call a taxi. The taxi arrives from the taxi stand in about 5 minutes if one is available. The ride to town is about 15 minutes. They will wait for you until a prearranged time to take you back to Tenicatita. When you arrive back at the beach the taxi will drop you off at your dinghy. Some people coordinate the trip with the laundromat. They get dropped off at laundromat, then have the taxi pick them up after lunch when the clothes are done. I was able to recharge the data on my Mexican cell phone. I’m slowly learning the Spanish buzz words that you can text to TelCel for balances, usage, etc.
You may recall our posting about the jelly fish, I mentioned they were small and did not sting. Well apparently not all of them are benign. New ones have appeared. Melodie went for a swim yesterday when we got back from the beach. Just before getting out of the water she was stung on her left leg. The sting covered most of her left thigh. We splashed hot water on it along with vinegar. Melodie took some Benadryl and ibuprofen. Then she applied some aloe vera and calendula lotion. It burned a lot. The next morning it was red and swollen, but did not burn as much.
We celebrated our 28th wedding anniversary yesterday (30 years together). It was a pretty laid back day. Normally we go somewhere for the weekend. Last year it was Mendocino. The year before that it was the Bellagio in Las Vegas. This year it was a walk on the beach and beers in the palapa. Melodie’s jelly fish sting did not lend itself to a romantic dinner out.
We leave for Chamela in the morning.
