Today is Monday July 27, 2015.
I've been getting feedback that I should be updating our blog even though we are not on the boat. So here it goes.
We left the boat in Marina San Carlos on Wednesday June 24 and began quite a journey that would eventually take us to Dewey AZ. My parents live in Dewey and we are house sitting for them.
We took a taxi from the marina to the Tufesa bus station in Guaymas. We had one large suitcase and our liferaft in it's Pelican case. We caught the 1430 bus and arrived in Tuscon at 2045 hours. We took another taxi to the Tuscon Airport where we rented a car. We began driving at about 2130, bound for Livermore CA.
You might question why we'd rent a car and not fly. We'll you can't check a life raft because of the large cylinder of air inside for automatic inflation. There is a weekly bus from Guaymas to Oakland CA, but it arrives at 2130 on Friday. Our Acura was stored at a business and we needed to get there during business hours.
So we drove through the night, taking turns at the wheel. We arrived in Livermore at about 1030. Of course the battery was dead, as the car was stored outside for 6 months and the 3 year battery was 3 1/2 years old. So we drove to the auto part store for a new one. We got the rental car returned and made our way to Fremont. I dropped off Melodie for a Doctor appointment while I went to Newark for a visit. I renewed my ID Card and went back to pick up Melodie. We finally arrived at Melodie's brother's house in San Jose at 1930 hours. 1250 miles in 33 1/2 hours.
After a quick visit in San Jose we headed to Truckee near Lake Tahoe. My niece Page and I share the same birthday. So we spent the weekend celebrating and watching Page race in the National Bicycle races in Truckee that weekend.
We drove to Dewey AZ on Monday June 29, 750 miles.
On July 2 I had hand surgery on my left hand. I suffer from Dupytren Contracture and I needed to get it fixed. I've spent the time since then attending Physical Therapy. It's healing, but it sure is taking some time.
We have been trying to experience what the Prescott area has to offer. We attended the Fourth of July Parade, the Friday Night Art Walk, and spend a day visiting Sedona and the cliff dwellings. We've also taken walks around the local parks.
So that's what's new here.
