The Baja Bash

Preparing for the Baja Bash (the trip north from Mexico to California). They call it “The Bash” because the prevailing winds and waves are from the northwest. So you are basically going uphill (if that makes any sense).

Fonatur Boat Yard

Pat
Today is Thursday Nov 5, 2015.

We hauled out as planned on Monday Nov 2. The yard went straight to work peeling the old ablative (soft) paint from our hull. We're having an epoxy primer applied and we are switching to a hard paint.

While we are in the yard we're having some sun shades made. Note the brown sheet we are using in the photo. Next week we will have Sunbrella sun shade material made up in panels that we can zip into place for protection from the sun.

One of the projects we wanted to complete was the annual cleaning of the winches. It's actually been since March of 2014, but were getting it done.

We are staying in a nice little motel near the marina. It has a king size bed, a kitchenette, and wifi. All for $36/per night, not too bad. We are trying to eat breakfast and lunch in the room to keep the food bills down.

That's all for now.
