The Baja Bash

Preparing for the Baja Bash (the trip north from Mexico to California). They call it “The Bash” because the prevailing winds and waves are from the northwest. So you are basically going uphill (if that makes any sense).

Pat (and Melodie)
Today is Sunday Feb 14, Valentine’s Day!

Melodie and I had a great visit with my brother Chris and his wife Carrie. We returned to the marina in Barra De Navidad and they caught their flight back to Portland OR. The hotel was showing Superbowl 50 in the lounge near the lobby. It was a pretty good set up. Only problem was we watched the first quarter in Spanish before they switched to an English station. There were no “super bowl” commercials, as they were catering to the Mexican markets.

We stayed two more nights in Barra before returning to Tenacatita Bay. We had a nice sail from Barra to Tenacatita. Chris and Carrie didn’t think we had sails, as we motored the entire time they were here. Melodie was using her foot too much, so she is really trying to stay off of it so it will heal properly. Swimming seems to help as it keeps it flexible without the weight. Plus it’s just nice to swim in the warm water. I went ashore and played Bocce on the beach. I’m not very athletic, but I usually score at least once during the three game series each afternoon.

Melodie and I are avid listeners to the Amigo Net on the SSB. We sometimes listen to the Sonrisa Net which requires a Ham radio license. I have volunteered to be net controller on the Amigo Net on Thursday. It will be my first time as net controller.
We left Tenacatita today and have stopped in Ensenada Carrizal. There is more swell than the last time we were here. We will move over to Las Hadas tomorrow. That is where they filmed the movie 10. We hope to meet up with friends who are coming back north from Zihuatenajo. Las Hadas is as far south as we will go this year.

The letters V and F stopped working on my laptop so I bought a flexible USB replacement. Now the N and B have stopped working on the flexible keyboard. That’s why this blog entry is so short.

Hope all is well where you are.
