About:
Captain (of course) is Jim. I am the deck hand, cook, and whatever else Jim thinks I can do. I say he only has 'little boats' in his head. Boating is all he thinks about, REALLY. We have our 49 ft. live aboard and are trying to get retired. [...]
Extra: I am going to have a blog to keep everyone updated as we approach our departure date and will keep you in the know of all we do now and what we find others are doing out there on the water.

dry docked

so our boat, Sparkey II, is dry docked in the harbour here. Jim needs help/info on how to stop some leaking that is coming in on the upper outside deck. He thinks he needs something like the rhino covering sprayed into the back of pickups. He is going to keep it covered now as he has [...]

docked and lonely boat

Our dream is sitting in Valdez, AK all alone. It is packed and waiting for us to come on down. As we accumulate a blender, food processor, coffee maker and more things we look for a smaller size and keep finding it. Yesterday I found a combo blender/food processor that will be perfect on our boat so [...]

We went out to some garage sales in Fairbanks, AK and anything we don't have on the boat or that an upgrade or more compack we get it. He bought some storage boxes from a GI who was moving out of state. They will not rust and will be great storage on board. Might just put dog food and dog toys for Gus and Chance in one.
Saw a boat while ago named "LIVING THE DREAM". Sounds like an excellant name to me. LIVIN"the dream....is what we all feel when we are out on the ocean cruising.

MARSHA/CALM AND NICE
Our dream is sitting in Valdez, AK all alone. It is packed and waiting for us to come on down. As we accumulate a blender, food processor, coffee maker and more things we look for a smaller size and keep finding it. Yesterday I found a combo blender/food processor that will be perfect on our boat so that is headed down our next trip and I can take the ones aboard off and we will be taking up less space and accomplish the same things with one appliance. Good cold drinks will be made easily and then a slaw chopped to go with the fresh fish we eat on the boat. If you want to know the brand I have found and like just write me and I will inform you.
Our boat is 49 feet long and a Pilot House and we love it. Both of us knew the pilot house was what we liked most so that was one big feature we looked for as we viewed MANY MANY boats. Price range was an area we knew what we could do so those two things narrowed down the search.
We were not afraid of doing some fixing up and got alot of boat for our money and we just love it. It is a Marine Trader and fits us and our two dogs and two cats very nicely. Stay with us as I record our on going efforts to be well equipped and very well informed before we retire to live on our boat full time.
