Heading home today. The lock gates opened at 8.42 and we slipped through at 9am. Cloudy sky, poor visability and the wind on our nose yet again which meant another motor sail. Average wind speed about 8 knots, straight from the North. And that is how it was all the way until we got to St Catherines on the south of the Isle of Wight when the wind picked up to 12knots, building to 18knots on our approach to Bembridge but still on our nose. Excellent nav work got us to St Catherines by working the east and west going tides and finally into Portsmouth Harbour having negotiated pots, buoys, forts, ferries and anchored tankers - all in the dark. Tied up on our berth at 11pm and just finished putting Stiletto to bed when the heavens opened and it bucketed down. Perfect timing.
Song of the Day: Star Man by Davie Bowie
Thought of the day: We just love it when a plan comes together.
Incident of the day: A meteor whizzing across the sky just south of the IOW before burning itself out.
