It's the middle of February and the preparations for our Big Adventure are starting in ernest. There are a few jobs that need to be done to stiletto before we can head off. We feel it is vital that she (as well as us) should be in absolute tip top condition and we have quite a list. Our view is that we set off knowing that we have done everything possible to ensure that she is ship shape and that should anything go wrong or fail, it would not be down to our neglect.

Stiletto is booked to have her mast 'unstepped ' (taken down) at Port Solent Marina and then re-stepped (put back on) in March. She is scheduled to come out of the water for a week when the standing rigging will be replaced, the sail drive gater replaced, sea cocks and skin fittings replaced, new rudder bearings fitted, a full engine service - basically a mini refit!

We have a new spray hood and dodgers and the two year old genoa and fully battened main sail will have been laundered.
