HM Coastguard Rescue Training
15 April 2017
We have given Stiletto a great shakedown in the Solent. Hopping between Cowes, Newtown and Yarmouth visiting friends and family along the way. We are now very confident that everything works fine and our sea trials are now complete. The vast financial expense and all the planning has paid off and she is good to go.
We are now back in Yarmouth, and en- route, sailing along minding our own business we were suddenly witness to HM Coastguard Rescue on a training exercise, very close to us. It was a joy to watch and these guys really do put their own lives at risk to save others. The photos are self explanatory.
We feel well rested and only now realise that for the past few weeks we have been running on empty and taking time out for ourselves to recharge our batteries was absolutely the right thing to do. The weather and conditions look perfect for a channel crossing on Saturday - then we will really feel the adventure is beginning.
Song for this post: you keep me hangin' on by The Supremes
Thought for this post: yes it's true, the Milk Tray man is alive and well in the Solent!!
Highlight of this post: tremendously skilled job from both skippers - boat and chopper - with a boat travelling at speed, makes you glad to know they are out there.
