Icarus was the son of the famous craftsman Daedalus in Greek mythology. His father made two sets of wings from feathers glued together with wax. He taught Icarus how ro fly and warned him not to fly too high as the wax would melt, nor to fly to low which would cause the feathers to get wet. Together they flew towards freedom but Icarus soon forgot his father's warning, flew too close to the sun, the wax melted, he fell into the sea and drowned.
The area of sea where he fell took the name Icarian Sea whilst a nearby island was named Icaria - the island of Andrea's forefathers and our ultimate destination.
