Buby

As the Queen once said..... 2020 has been annus horribilis . Without exception it has been a very dificult year. Lockdown, our sailing season starting so late, the passing away of my mum and not being able to get home, and now, a phone call to tell us that our beloved Buby has died. Gabriel, the boatyard manager at Pythagorio, broke the news.
He told us that after we left Buby was fine. He was in better shape than he had ever been. For the last couple of days he has been very lethargic and just laid around. Yesterday morning Gabriel found him.
He said that suspicion is that Buby was poisoned by the Albanians who caused the motor bike accident some weeks ago. Clearly the case was not going to court, the motorcyclist was not going to get the €4,000 compensation he wanted and this is his revenge. Of course it cannot be proven, only by way of a post mortem, and Bubys owner doesn't care enough about him to justify the expense.
Such a lovely creature. He made lockdown for us very bearable. I came to love him, was distraught at leaving him behind and am now heartbroken.
Muse for this post: living the dream has its nightmare moments too.
