Nisos Astipálaia - Panormos

Nisos Astipálaia – Ormos Panormos

En-route to Skala we stopped  for lunch here and were so glad that  we did. Firstly, we had the bay all to ourselves. No other boats. When this happens we get almost as excited as when we see dolphins!!!! Secondly, it was just simply beautiful.

We had a bite to eat and then dinghyed ashore for a walk to stretch our legs.  There were just 2 people on this remote beach who seemed to morph out of nowhere as they weren't there when we first arrived.  A young couple, clearly  very ‘loved up'  and who were probably very disappointed that they hadn't got the place to themselves (we know the feeling).  We skirted round them and walked up to the high point, passing the chapel, and looked down on this beautiful bay. Again, total peace and quiet.  Not even  the tinkling of goat bells. What a fantastic find. We were reluctant to leave but needed to get round to Skala as there were high winds forecast for the next few days and we wanted to get in and tied up before it arrived.

Muse for this post: it's better to walk alone than with a crowd going in the wrong direction.
