.........a mask.!!!!
Masks are now becoming as prolific as plastic bags and bottles bobbing around on the sea. . This one came floating by out in the anchorage . It makes my blood boil when I see what humanity dumps on land and in the oceans and if I had my time again I would be the Lead Campaigner for protecting our seas. As we are now close to the mainland, the rubbish in the sea has increased dramatically. I watched the crew of a passing charter boat throwing rind from the water melon they were eating into the sea. Do they have any idea of how long that would take to decompose? CLEARLY NOT. And if they think any form of sea life would eat it then they are just plain thick and do not deserve to be out on the water.
We have been sailing together for 18 years and have owned Stiletto for 16 of them. We have exhausted the Solent and the UK South Coast and all the other usual passages: West Country, France, Channel Islands etc. that are available from our home port of Gosport. [...]We embarked on our "Slow Boat to the Med" big adventure, having sailed out of Gosport in April 2017, with our final destination being the island of Ikaria, in the Eastern Aegean - where Andreas has his family roots, before going on to explore the hundreds of other stunning Greek island locations - we could be away a while!
