Just outside the city of Edessa is Loutra Pozar, or Pozar Baths, located at the base of the Voras Mountains. It is very popular with the local Greeks who come for the healing properties of the springs.

There are many hot springs throughout Greece, we have visited several, but the difference here is the proximity of the hot spring and the cold rushing streams which are located right next to each other and make for a truly unique experience that will leave you rested and recharged. The water, throughout the whole year remains at 41 degC and is still popular during the winter months.

Like an awful lot of places throughout Greece this gorgeous place was run down and tired. We have no problem paying an entrance fee to any site but I do seriously question just where the money goes when clearly it is not going into maintenance.

However, we took a dip into the lovely warm water but gave standing under the freezing (5 degC) waterfall a miss ! We allowed our bodies to absorb all the minerals in the water and left feeling recharged - just as well as we still had a lot of touristy stuff to do!!!
