When we enter a bay and see lots and lots of local boats we know that the shelter is good. The little harbour was full of locals boats and several large yachts on moorings who winter here. It has to be the most sheltered place we have visited. The water so calm and flat we rowed ashore each time instead of using the outboard.
We have been sailing together for 18 years and have owned Stiletto for 16 of them. We have exhausted the Solent and the UK South Coast and all the other usual passages: West Country, France, Channel Islands etc. that are available from our home port of Gosport. [...]We embarked on our "Slow Boat to the Med" big adventure, having sailed out of Gosport in April 2017, with our final destination being the island of Ikaria, in the Eastern Aegean - where Andreas has his family roots, before going on to explore the hundreds of other stunning Greek island locations - we could be away a while!
