Lovely New Harbor Discovered

I admit to being somewhat jaded regarding the busy Cape Cod scene, and I certainly do prefer Maine cruising and the places less traveled. That said, based on a recommendation of our friends from Safari Tu, we visited the small harbor of Quissett, MA which is only a few miles away from Wood's Hole when heading northeast. The entrance is slightly intimidating as electronic charts show three feet in the channel and paper charts do not have a usable scale. That said, we were told that there was 8 feet at low, and we slowly motored into the inner harbor where we moored next to dozens of beautifully maintained Herreshoffs. The harbor has a wonderful Maine feel - a combination of Pulpit's Harbor's serenity with Northeast Harbor's stately shoreside residences.
Christine: A quintessential small New England harbor. I caught a striper in the outer harbor which was tons of fun. Hannah: I really liked hiking on the Knob trail and admiring the views of Buzzards Bay. Hayden: I liked catching bluefish. Peter: A highlight was catching several bluefish and then eating them for dinner with goat cheese & crackers while enjoying a beautifully calm sunny evening moored in a serene harbor.
