Saturday- Lunch at the French Restaurant
16 January 2010 | Panama- Panamarina
Mostly sunny, very warm, moderate breeze, northerly
Well looks like we'll get out of here and make our way to the San Blas islands early next week, the home of the Kuna indians and crafters of the world renown reverse applique molas. The winds have calmed down and the seas should be comfortable Monday for the 40 mile passage. We heard about a French restaurant at the marina around around the corner so we decided to give it a try. The trip there was a very pleasant dingy ride through a mangrove creek. When we got there the atmosphere was homestyle with the owners speaking french to most of the customers with a mix of spanish and english for the rest. The food was awesome, John had a dinner size portion of osso bucca with 3 beers and I had a dinner size portion of pork loin in a basil olive sauce and a desert vanilla ice cream with poached pear and chocolate sauce... all for $20. Panama is a very international country and it's not unusual to be on a bus and hear 4 or 5 different languages being spoken around you.
