A Nice Sail

We departed the Rio Chargres, near Colon, Panama, this morning at 6:30 am; and made it out the river mouth by about seven am. We hoisted our brand new mainsail while still at anchor, and are trying it out for the first time. So Far So Good. We have been close hauled (pointing into the wind as much as possible) all day, with winds of about ten to twelve knots, but they are lightening up a bit now. The forecast was for the wind to increase and shift to the right, which would make for better sailing - so far nothing doing. Anyway, the new mainsail is fantastic, now I remember why I used to buy new sails every year or so - of course I had a job then, not homeless and unemployed like now! Hats off to the Quantum Sails loft in Cape Town, South Africa who built it for us.
We've gone seventy miles so far, another 135 to go. Have not been fishing, though, because the seas are a little rough (five foot swell) and I don't want to have to clean a fish while bouncing around. Call me a sissy.
