We had a visitor the other day - Lt. David Javier Torres Rivera (serial number x1845R) of the Columbian Coast Guard stopped by for an inspection. He arrived with his crew of three others in a 30 foot center console launch with 3 three hundred horsepower outboard engines. All the guys had on bullet proof vests, leather army boots and goggles - seemed like they took some spray when they were running! Anyway, Lt. Torres Rivera was very nice, spoke good english, too. He wanted to check all our paperwork, and made a note of it in his logbook. He also did an inspection of the boat, I think looking for signs of drug trafficking, but not really sure since I did not ask him why. He asked us what other countries we had been to in the boat, stayed about 15 minutes or so, leaving only big black footprints all over the deck!
He checked the local fishing boat just before us, and then after us check one of the other cruisers anchored here, and then went over to the marine's base and spent the night over there.
Today is pretty breezy and big waves, so we are going to hang out another day. The weather guru Chris Parker says tomorrow will be better, so we most likely will head over to San Andres then - but who knows for sure!
