Thursday- Next Island Reef
03 June 2010 | Honduras- Guanaja (Michael's Rock) to Roatan (Port Royal)
Mostly sunny, very warm, gentle to moderate breeze, southeasterly
Time to move to the big island of Roatan here in what is known as the Bay Islands off Honduras. First stop Port Royal, we were able to sail the whole way under just the genoa headsail even though the wind was light at times and from almost straight behind. Nice bay and after a full tour we settled on anchoring close to the reef behind a small island near one of the entry channels. It feels unnatural to be so close to the reef but as John had to explain to me the wind direction very rarely changes and this was where the wave fetch had the least room to build with the incresed winds we were expecting.
