Motor/Sailed to Comfort Cay!
12 April 2024
• Comfort Cay, Berrys, Bahamas
by Helen Humphreys • Cloudy, a little rain, then Sunny, Wind from Northwest up to 12 knots

Mark hauled anchor at 8:30 and we motored North along Bond Cay. We were able to add a reefed genoa sail as we motored with the starboard engine. There were plenty of shallow places with rocks. We motor/sailed up the West side of Bond Cay. As we turned more into the wind, Mark furled the genoa. We passed the Cut between Adler Cay and Bond Cay. Then, we headed towards the Cut between Adler and Little Harbour Cay and motored around Cabbage Cay and up towards Comfort Cay. It was shallow in places as we avoided the rocks under the surface.
We anchored behind Comfort Cay with Guano Cay behind us. Wind speed was 12 knots from West of North and changing to the North.
After lunch, Mark launched the dinghy and we headed to the beach on Guano Cay. The first beach had jagged rocks which we didn’t want the dinghy to hit, so we chose the next beach over. There were a few rocks, but they were flat. Mark anchored the dinghy in the sand.
We were able to walk this beach and then around the rocks at the corner to the next beach. We got back in the dinghy and explored the shallow waters towards Little Harbour Cay. However, the depths were too shallow and we gave up. We could see Flo’s pink bar. We were not sure if it was still in business. We will explore that area tomorrow at high tide.
Mark snorkeled on the anchor. It was well set. He took underwater pictures of the hulls and they look very clean.
Our plan is stay here tonight and maybe tomorrow too. It all depends on the North wind, which is currently from the Northwest and only 8-12 knots. It is relatively calm with small chop, but comfortable.
