• Somewhere close to our home in Jacksonville, Florida
by Helen Humphreys • Overcast, cloudy and then hot sunshine. At times the light wind was afavorable, so we motor/sailedha

We woke up before 7 am. Mark checked us out and we dropped our lines. I manned the helm while Mark pulled up the fenders and ines and put them in the front locker. There was cloud cover and it looked misty out. It took the sun until mid morning before it poked it way out of the clouds. Then the temperature reached over 80F.
We were motoring with one engine and our speed was reduced by 2 knots due to the current. Unfortunately, it stayed against us the whole way to the St. Johns River. It was a very long day on the water. We took turns at the helm, but Mark mostly drove the boat.
We got passed by speed boats the whole entire day. Some of them really put out a huge wake. We were going to anchor off the ICW, but then tomorrow’s tide wouldn’t get us into our canal until late.
It was not an easy task cooking lunch with all the wake. However, I succeeded.
It is after 6pm and we are almost at the St Johns River in Jacksonville, Florida. We are moving forward and not sure where we will end up over night. I suggested we anchor and drop the dinghy and go home. However, Mark said he’s too tired to do that. It will be our last night on Sunnyside.
