Odyssey's End

23 May 2010 | Satellite Beach, FL
Home again, home again... the ship is docked and the odyssey is over, at least for now. It happened a lot quicker than we expected. We were in Nassau without a solid plan - not really wanting to go home and expecting to take a week or more for the trip. But it turned out there was an unusual weather pattern with 3 days of NE 10-20 knot wind - giving us a perfect beam reach all the way home. Friday morning we were in Nassau debating the best way to make the final 250 miles home. Finally we just decided to go for it and take full advantage of the wind. We did 185 miles in 24 hours and the whole 250 in less than a day and a half!! Sunny Skies loves LOVES 20 knots on the beam. It's our favorite point of sail and we knew we could get home faster than any other way - Many times we hit 10 - 11 knots or more.

So tell me again why it is we came home?
