One Week Done

27 May 2016 | Solomons, Maryland
Carol
It's hard to believe that tomorrow will be one week that we are here. We've gotten a lot of work done and can actually see the light at the end of the tunnel. There will be small projects here and there, I'm sure we will always find something to do, but most of the big projects are done for now. There are two other major items we want to add to the boat in the fall: solar power and water maker. Hopefully, we will be able to install those ourselves.

We worked on the anchor today. The anchor that was on the boat when we bought her was not sufficient for our needs, and it only had 100' of chain! Definitely not enough. We pulled out all the old chain and rope, tied our new anchor (85 lb. Mantus shown in picture) on temporarily, and ordered new chain, 250'! That should hold us pretty good. The way it works is you want a scope of 4:1. So if the depth of the water is 30', you want 120' of chain. If it's very windy, you should have a 7:1 scope.

Unfortunately, they haven't been able to put our sails on yet, so we haven't been able to go out for our first sail.

And the BIG NEWS is we finally put the name on the back of the boat. I can only add one picture at a time, so I'll add it on the next blog. It came as a decal, and it wasn't easy getting it on, but it came out nice.

Tomorrow we will finally clean the outside of the boat. Will post a picture of it when she's all shiny clean!
